After struggling through the regular season, G2 Esports finally look like themselves again after defeating MAD Lions 3-1 in the first round of the LEC Summer Playoffs and booking their spot to Worlds.

However, while the team is riding high right now, support player Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle has revealed that there’s one team he absolutely does not want to face in the grand final: Schalke 04.

“I think I am afraid of them making it to the finals, just 3-0 every single team that comes in their way,” said Mikyx in an interview with Inven Global. “They seem pretty unstoppable right now, so I hope someone else takes them out. They are pretty scary.”

Schalke 04 has been the surprise story of the Summer Split, coming back from 1-10 in the standings to qualify for the playoffs with an incredible 7-game winstreak, which continued last week after they absolutely obliterated SK Gaming 3-0 in the first round of the Lower Bracket playoffs.

In the interview, Mikyx also shared his thoughts on the prospect of facing four LPL teams at Worlds.

“In the past, usually, there would only be the top two teams from the LPL making it out of groups, but this year, the LPL looks really competitive, and every team looks pretty strong,” said Mikyx in an interview with Inven Global. “In a way, this is pretty hyped. If anything, this will be really good practice for us, even if it is scary.”

Mikyx also revealed that he is looking forward to meeting players from other regions like T1’s bot laner Park “Teddy” Jin-seong and Team Liquid’s support Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in. He is also hyped to see FunPlus Phoenix again despite being crushed by them during Worlds 2019.

“Last year it was pretty fun, with Crisp for example,” said Mikyx.

Worlds 2020 will commence on September 25 in Shanghai, China. For now, G2 needs to give their best in the LEC Summer Playoffs where they will face long-time rivals Fnatic this weekend, August 29 at 11 p.m. GMT+8.
