Clutch Gaming (CG) defeated Team SoloMid (TSM) on the first day of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Summer Playoffs quarterfinals.

In the best-of-five series, CG raced out to a quick 2-0 lead before TSM was able to get on the board, taking a tightly-contested game three.

However, CG was able to finish off the series with a dominating victory in game four, which included a huge ace.

Making his LCS playoffs debut, TSM Mingyi “Spica” Lu’s Jarvan IV got caught by CG Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme’s Nautilus, which gave CG members enough time to deal damage and slay TSM Spica.

The remaining TSM members attempted to disengage from the situation but TSM Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik’s Vladimir, TSM Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen’s Sivir, and TSM Andy “Smoothie” Ta’s Braum got caught by CG Cody “Cody Sun” Sun’s Kai’Sa, which led to a bloodbath.

All five CG members then headed for the enemy nexus to finish the game.

TSM Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg’s Corki tried to stall to give his team time to respawn but got killed in the process. With all TSM members down, CG finished off the match with a spectacular ace, winning the series 3-1.

Clutch Gaming will be moving on to the LCS Summer semifinals against Team Liquid on Sunday, August 18 at 12 p.m. PT.
