Tekken God, Bae “Knee” Jaemin, has uploaded a video discussing last month’s Evo Japan tournament, and specifically the dominance of Leroy.

According to Knee, out of the 960 participants at Evo Japan, around 80% of them played Leroy. Out of the top 8, 6 players were Leroy mains.

Knee had one of his worst tournaments ever, placing at 25th, and crashing out of the tournament with a 0-2 loss to Osyare-kossetsu, a fairly low-ranked player who was playing Leroy.

After losing, Knee said that he didn’t bother watching the top 8 due to the number of Leroy players.

“There’s OP here and there, but I think Leroy has crossed this line,” said Knee. “I’ve heard that Leroy’s counter is Leroy which proves that the character is broken.”

While Leroy was nerfed the day after Evo Japan concluded, many pros still feel that he’s too strong.

Evo Japan 2020 champ, Nopparut “Book” Hempamorn, has even said that Tekken players should “just pick Leroy” to win.

In his video, Knee went on to talk about DLC characters, Akuma and Geese Howard, who were considered OP in previous seasons. Akuma and Geese are guest characters so they’re unlikely to return in the next game, but with Leroy being an original character, the ROX Dragons player is worried that he may plague future Tekken titles.

Until Leroy is brought to a level that is more on par with the rest of the cast, Knee suggested that official Tekken matches ban him from competitive play.
