Vici Gaming win the ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore World Pro Invitational

After six days of intense Dota action, the Grand Final of the ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore World Pro Invitational came down to two teams riding hot streaks. From the Upper Bracket, Evil Geniuses entered the game with a 13-1 record, following 2-0 sweeps over Team Secret and Gambit in the Upper Bracket semifinal and final respectively.

Their opponents, Vici Gaming, had a slow start to the tournament and almost didn’t make it out of the Group Stage, but after close 2-1 wins over TNC Predator and Team Secret in the first two rounds of the Lower Bracket, they found their groove, sweeping Alliance and Gambit in the Lower Bracket semifinal and final.

In the Grand Final, EG started each game strong, but Vici were able to turn things around in the mid and late game, taking victory each time, and ending the series with a dominant 3-0 sweep.

With the win, VG walked away with US$200,000 and the first-ever ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore World Pro Invitational title belt.

Derek “iDom” Ruffin, an unsponsored and self-supported Street Fighter V player pulled off one of esports biggest ever upsets, defeating CPT number one ranked player, Victor “Punk” Woodley, in the grand finals of the Capcom Cup.

After losing to Punk in the winners final, iDom battled his way back up to the grand final where he came back from 2-0 down in the first set, pulling off a reverse sweep to reset the bracket, and then taking the final set 3-1 to win the title.

Seth joins the cast of Street Fighter V

Shortly after the conclusion of the Capcom Cup, Street Fighter producer, Yoshinori Ono and pro-wrestler, Kenny Omega, took to the stage to announce Seth as the newest DLC character to join the Street Fighter V cast.

A reveal trailer showed the return of the Street Fighter IV final boss, with a new synthetic female body (after his previous male body was destroyed at the end of Street Fighter IV).

True to his original form, Seth’s moveset is once again stolen from the other fighters. He has Guile’s Sonic Boom, Ryu and Ken’s Shoryuken, Zangief’s Spinning Piledriver, and Chun-Li’s Lightning kick. His V-Skill 1 ability, also lets him copy additional moves from the character he’s fighting.
