Nintendo’s 16-minute long Pokémon Direct wrapped up last night, and it’s already promising to be awesome.

The first main games of the eight-generation of the Pokémon series are designed for the Nintendo Switch and will feature legendary Pokémons Zacian and Zamazenta from the Galar region, with the games named after them.

Zacian holds a shining sword on its mouth which can cut through anything, while Zamazenta owns a body that is formed like a shield. Not much is known about these two Legendaries, not even to the inhabitants of the Galar region.

The Pokémon Direct also talked about new Pokémon that can be discovered such as the sheep-looking Wooloo, the flower-inspired Gossifleur, and the mighty bird Corviknight.

Starter Pokémons Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble also appeared in the Direct.

Players can catch these Pokémons in the Wild Areas scattered throughout the Galar region. Another new feature is how trainers can control the camera angles and perspectives in these Wild Areas. There’s plenty of “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” vibes here, no?

A new gameplay mechanic called Dynamax will also come to Sword and Shield. When Pokémons enter the Dynamax phenomenon, they get bigger than their normal size while gaining a surge of power. You can also team up with other players in Max Raid Battles to capture a wild Dynamax Pokémon, a new gameplay feature that sounds similar to the one in Pokémon Go.

Lastly, the Galar region has a high regard for gym battles, and it is the most popular form of entertainment there. Milo, the grass-type gym leader, also made his first appearance in the video reveal, and players will also encounter other characters in the game such as Leon, the undefeated Champion of Galar and his brother, Hop.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be available on November 15 this year for the Nintendo Switch.
