Get ready for some fast-paced action with a hint of nostalgia in the newest trailer of the Final Fantasy VII Remake.

It has been nearly four years since the game was announced in a trailer at E3 2015, but the new trailer drops just in time to drum up some hype in preparation for E3 next month.

In the new trailer, we finally get to see some substantial gameplay with Barrett and Cloud beating up some Shinra soldiers and other classic FF enemies. The action moments seem very reminiscent of Final Fantasy XV, with smooth, yet exhilarating transitions through attacks and specials. This is a stark change in play-style from the original game, which featured a turn-based format during battles.

The remake provides an significant visual upgrade compared to its original, which was released in 1997. Even with the gap of 22 years, the set and character design still holds true to the original with Tetsuya Nomura in the director’s chair. Nomura was one of the main artists who designed the characters in the original FFVII.

“Most of the plans are already in place in the run up to launch,” said Nomura in a recent tweet. “Please bear with us a little until we can release more information next month.”

Although there is no official release date yet, we hope to see ourselves roaming the captivating city of Midgar later this year.
