The semifinal stage of the tournament is a double-elimination, best-of-three format, with the global ban-pick rule in effect.
The first game of the series looked very promising for Team Indonesia as Satria Adi “Wiraww” Wiratama’s D’Arcy picked up first blood against Nattapong “KiNESiS” Chaichanasap’s Kriknak.
However, despite their great start, Team Indonesia failed to destroy Thailand’s nexus in one go, as the latter held up their defenses quite well, stalling out the game well past the twenty-minute mark.
In an insane turn of events, Team Thailand was able to push to Indonesia’s nexus through the top lane, but their eagerness to end the game caused them to overextend, and Indonesia’s “winion” wave did counterattacked, letting Indonesia take the first game in the series.
It was revenge time for Team Thailand in the second game, with team captain Ratthagun “Gzy” Suwanchai’s Ormarr taking a double kill just four minutes into the game.
With a 36,000 gold lead, seven towers down, and with Hartanto “POKKA” Lius’s Xeniel down, Thailand pushed for the nexus and tied the series 1-1.
An intense third game saw Thailand almost win it, with just a pixel of health left on Indonesia’s nexus, before Gilang Dwi “LLAF” Fallah’s Brunhilda was able to save it.
But with Team Thailand’s members respawning, Indonesia marched their into Thailand’s base and secured victory, and with it their spot in the SEA Games 2019 Gold Medal Match.
