No Longer Allowed in Another World episode 8 recap
Sensei and his travel companions stopped at The World Tree and the town of Toneriko, only to be surprised that they had been taken over by otherworlders and turned into a gambling town. They asked the mayor what had happened, who then pleaded with them to help save the dying World Tree by driving out the evil otherworlders.
A hero named Yamada aided them, but Sensei wandered off after running out of sleeping pills. He discovered a cave where people smoked the leaves of the World Tree, but was instead led to a bar by a dancer named Esche, with whom he quickly became friends. Meanwhile, Yamada destroyed the casino and swiftly defeated the evil other worlders.
The villagers celebrated but soon turned on Esche, accusing her of willingly aiding the invaders.
Sensei revealed that she had used her bar and skills to keep the otherworlders in check and protect the villagers, but nobody believed him except for Yamada.
The villagers forced Esche out of town, and Sensei and his travel companions also left. Yamada was horrified when the mayor admitted he planned to continue the otherworlders’ operations and tried to hire him as a bodyguard.
As the heroes departed, the World Tree withered and died. Esche then revealed herself to be the spirit of the World Tree and, as thanks for Sensei’s kindness, granted him an infinite supply of his sleeping pills.
