Team Spirit might have just revealed its secret to overcoming the The International 2021 (TI10) lower bracket.

The Russian Dota 2 team has pulled some of the tournament’s biggest upsets against the likes of OG Esports, Virtus.pro, and even ONE Esports Singapore Major champions, Invictus Gaming.

The team’s latest vlog featured an unexpected lucky charm from the popular anime series, “Death Note”.

Minutes before their do-or-die series against OG Esports started, team captain Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov looked preoccupied writing on a notebook.

The vlog zooms in to Miposhka’s workspace. A closer look shows him writing names of OG players on a Death Note.

What is a Death Note?

For non-anime fans, a Death Note is basically a powerful notebook that instantly kills people when their names are written on its pages.

The concept came from the anime “Death Note”, which follows Yagami Light and his desire to free the world from criminals using the notebook.

Miposhka’s Death Note shows the whole Fnatic roster written on it, as well as some names from OG Esports.

“Don’t write Topson, he has a child,” said carry player Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk to Miposhka.

The note seems to be effective, especially since it killed some of the team’s toughest opponents out of the competition.

Will the mysterious notebook work its charm and help Team Spirit grab the TI10 Aegis?
