If you’re an avid player of Call of Duty‘s latest mode, DMZ, then you’ve probably heard of the Tempered Vest.

These powerful items provide the wearer with additional armor, but there’s a twist: it requires fewer plates to do it. Normally you would need three armor plates to be capped out, but now you only need two to receive the same benefit.

There are a few ways to get your hands on a Tempered Vest, and none are incredibly easy — but some are dangerous.

Tempered Plate Carrier vest barter recipe

The first method is making use of the new barter system. With the new system, players can trade in other items of value they have in exchange for an item they want.

It’s not a monetary value exchange, but rather very specific sets of items that you’ll need to offer to receive what you want.

For the Tempered Vest, players will need to trade in the following items.

  • 1 Sensitive Documents
  • 1 Classified Documents
  • 2 Documents

Do this at a buy station and you’ll receive the vest.

Kill the Pyro Commander

This one is no easy task, and there’s plenty of risk. While less time-consuming than the previous method, this one is definitely more dangerous.

The Pyro Commander can be found near either the Control Tower by the airport, the Post Office in Al Mazrah City, or at the US Embassy.

If you can take down the enemy AI and eliminate the head honcho, then he’ll drop you the vest for your accomplishment. It’s worth noting there are reports that the Pyro Commander actually drops two vests most of the time.

Did we mention he has a dragon’s breath shotgun and a riot shield? Have fun.

So there you have it, you can either tediously search for the documents required to barter, or you can take on a deadly foe. Either way, the vest may just be worth the effort. If you want to check out a video walkthrough of the different vests and what they do, check this out.
