Once the least-played hero in ranked, Balmond gradually became one of the most-picked heroes in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang after the rise of the tank jungler meta.

He has a reliable gap closer in Cyclone Sweep, and can one-shot multiple enemies with Lethal Counter. His early-game damage is insane, so much so that building him with defensive items does not hinder his ability to kill enemy heroes.

Here’s a quick guide on his best build, including an explanation of each item and how it helps Balmond in-game.

Despite being classified as a fighter, Balmond is best played with defensive items. A mix of HP, physical, and magic defense is the way to go in most games.

These items provide Balmond with the necessary stats to become unstoppable. Cursed Helmet is a necessary first item, for its passive helps him clear jungle creeps much faster in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Guardian Helmet also works wonders for the Bloody Beast, providing him with a big HP boost which goes a long way in prolonged team fights. Since he doesn’t require mana, this item allows him to quickly regenerate his lost health without having to teleport back to base often.

As for the remaining defensive items, you can switch them up depending on the enemy lineup. If the enemy has a lot of magic damage, Radiant Armor or Athena’s Shield are recommended. Otherwise, go for Antique Cuirass or Blade Armor.

For boots upgrade, go for Warrior Boots against a heavy physical damage lineup, and Tough Boots if the enemy composition has a lot of crowd control skills and magic damage. In terms of Battle Spells, choose Ice Retribution for the movement speed debuff, which synergizes well with Cyclone Sweep.

  • Tough Boots with Ice Retribution
  • Cursed Helmet
  • Guardian Helmet
  • Dominance Ice
  • Blade Armor
  • Immortality

If you got an early lead and are confident that you can end the game early, switch Cursed Helmet to War Axe for sustained damage.

You can also go for Bloodlust Axe instead of Guardian Helmet for the extra lifesteal. In the late game, build tank items, and remember to keep the offensive items you’ve purchased.
