Renata Glasc is League of Legends’ 159th playable champion. Just like the Filipino-coded champion Zeri, Renata Glasc seems to have a lot of connections with the characters of Riot Games’ League of Legends anime series, Arcane.

How is Renata Glasc related to Sevika, Silco, Viktor, and the rest of the Arcane cast? Here’s what we know so far.

Warning: Major spoilers if you haven’t seen Arcane Season 1.

Just like Arcane’s antagonist Sevika, Renata Glasc has a mechanical arm that she can adjust and strengthen. Despite this physical similarity, the two are not the same character — here are some reasons why.

Renata lost her arm in an attempt to save her parents from an attack from Piltover’s elite clan leaders as mentioned in her League of Legends lore. Meanwhile, Sevika lost hers while protecting Silco from the blast of Powder’s Hex crystal bomb as seen at the end of Arcane Act 1.

Their mechanical arms have a stark contrast too. Sevika’s Shimmer-infused arm contains a hidden sword, while Renata’s arm is more complex and advanced. In League of Legends, Renata’s robotic Chemtech-augmented arm can fire a variety of projectiles and mark enemies, allowing allies to inflict more damage on them.

Her lore is yet to imply any direct relationship with Sevika, but Renata grew up in the sump level of Zaun, the deepest level of the undercity. She might be related to Sevika in some way, especially since Renata has been developing chemical-based technology for about 30 years now. It’s possible that Renata might be Sevika’s child, grandchild, or a distant relative.

However, with Silco’s death at the end of Arcane, Sevika was left in a tricky situation with Piltover, especially after Jinx launched her missile towards the council tower. Perhaps Sevika will use her position as the former right-hand woman of Zaun’s drug lord to start an empire based on chemical technology. If this happens, this would put Glasc in a perfect situation to improve lives across Zaun and Piltover.

One of Renata’s official voice lines is “Progress comes at a price that others are unwilling to pay,” which is almost a direct Arcane quote from Silco. Throughout Arcane Season 1, Silco talked about the distinctions between strength and weakness.

At the beginning of the series, Silco convinces Deckard to drink Shimmer for the boy to gain power.

“I’d like to let you in on a very important secret I learned when I was about your age, boy,” said Silco to Deckard. “You see, power, real power doesn’t come to those who were born strongest or fastest or smartest. No. It comes to those who will do anything to achieve it.”

However, Renata is so much more complicated than Silco. She wants to improve the lives of her clients as soon as possible, just like the ultimate goal of Jayce and Viktor in the series, who desired to use Hextech for the advancement of Piltover.

Renata shares the same ideals with Jayce and Viktor. What sets her apart from the two is her cunningness and willingness to fight anyone who gets in her way.

Speaking of Arcane’s scientists, Renata is regarded as a brilliant inventor, a phrase often used to describe Jayce and Heimerdinger in the show. It is possible that Renata has some relationship with Heimerdinger, since the Dean of the Academy arrived in Zaun by the end of Season 1.

It’s also possible that Renata has some connections with other League of Legends champions such as Singed and Urgot. Singed was also a scientist at Zaun’s sump level. Meanwhile, Urgot escaped from a prison called The Dredge and ruled a part of Zaun using strategies similar to Glasc Industries. Urgot hated the barons and sought to overthrow them in favor of anarchy.

Renata’s champion trailer also showed a bloody battle between her and other Zaunites, including Vi, Jayce, Heimerdinger, Seraphine, Ezreal, Janna, Orianna, Camille, and Tahm Kench.

There are many other characters in the League of Legends universe who have never appeared in both the game and in the series. Particularly, the three most prominent science tycoons — Karvyq the Silverhanded, Velveteen Lenare, and Wencher Spindlaw — are all acquainted with Renata.

Karvyq was nicknamed the Silverhanded after his hands were chopped off and replaced with silver prosthetic hands. Those prosthetics could have been made by Glasc Industries, especially since Renata also has a silver hand.

On the other hand, Velveteen Lenare is also a businesswoman just like Renata. Her body is already dying, which is why she had her head transplanted into another body. That body possesses mechanical arms, similar to the Chem-Baroness.

Meanwhile, Wencher Spindlaw is a chem-baron and an employee at Glasc Industries.

Renata Glasc will be released in League of Legends patch 12.4, which goes live on Wednesday, February 16.
