You walk barefoot in the sand under the blazing heat, past a group of girls playing volleyball, and dip your toes into the cool ocean. You take a sip of your refreshing coconut juice — summer has officially begun!
That said, there’s probably no better way to usher in the long summer days than League of Legends‘ hugely popular Pool Party skins.
These skins transform our favorite champions into beach babes and toned lads, all decked out in adorable bikinis or comfortable trunks, ready to hit the waters of the Summoner’s Rift.
Surfer Singed was the first skin in the series, dating from way back in 2010. Three years later, Riot Games released five more Pool Party skins for Graves, Renekton, Lee Sin, Leona, and Ziggs.
Since then, the Pool Party universe has only gotten bigger. There are now a total of 29 skins for players to choose from.

Swimming in muddy waters

Ziggs has arguably the worst skin out of all the champions in the Pool Party collection, but the sad part is that it wasn’t always this way.
The skin looked great before its major visual effects update in 2019, which removed the more realistic and detailed water splash textures, particularly on his Q and R abilities.
Riot Games also added blast area effects after the explosions, which looked messy in-game.

These skins are total eye-candy when it comes to their splash art, but they need more polish for their in-game visuals.
For instance, Pool Party Syndra could do with more fun colors than just light and dark shades of purple. Riot Games also missed an opportunity to transform Pool Party Zac into an inflatable swimming pool whenever he casts his ultimate, Let’s Bounce!

From crocodile lifeguards to aqua-haired celestial beings, the champions in this group always have something fresh to bring to the Pool Party table.
Pool Party Gangplank takes a page from the traditional Japanese summer game suikawari. He conjures massive watermelons, which then explode and deal damage to an enemy. Another notable item is Pool Party Renekton’s cleaver, which has been transformed into a lifeguard buoy.
When it comes to the VFX, Pool Party Braum takes the cake with his absolutely smashing and glorious sandcastle, which appears when he casts his ultimate, Glacial Fissure.

Yone, Seraphine, Sett, and Taliyah are the perfect representation of what it means to have fun under the sun. These four champions have the best Pool Party skins of the lot, featuring magnificent splash art and stunning visual and audio effects. Riot has clearly paid attention to the details here.
If you’re a support main looking to get the most out of your money when it comes to skins, Prestige Ocean Song Seraphine is a great pick. Unlike most Prestige skins that are simply painted over in white and gold, this one adopts a pinkish gold hue that reminds us of gorgeous sunsets on the beach. We also love the water dolphins coming out of her Q ability, which later burst into a small pool of bokeh and sparkles.
Another Ocean Song skin worth buying is Yone, who looks like he’s having a really good time. The skin reimagines the swordsman as a DJ making his debut at a beach concert, complete with shades and a sun hat.
Meanwhile, Sett looks surprisingly good in pink in his Pool Party skin, with a big lei hanging around his neck. Seashells and a flock of seagulls also make an appearance in his abilities — a whimsical touch that lets you take the beach with you to the Rift.
Finally, Taliyah is the purest embodiment of what it means to enjoy the summer. The Stoneweaver is now a cool surfer, literally riding a wave while creating a long stone wall across the map.
The Pool Party skins start at 975RP, with some costing 1,350RP.
