In the most recent Nintendo Direct Mini, Nintendo announced the latest installment of the Rune Factory series, Rune Factory 5. The game will be the next mainline game after Rune Factory 4 which was previously released on the 3DS in 2012.

Rune Factory 5 presents a substantial visual upgrade from the previous installment. Instead of the usual top-down, isometric view of handheld games in the 2010s, publishers XSEED Games and Marvelous will provide players with a HD third-person view of thrilling RPG action.

As for its gameplay, you can expect more of the same trademark features similar to previous installments. In the beginning, players can choose the gender of their amnesiac character and fulfill their role as a ranger in the rural town of Rigbar. You can team up with townsfolk to tame monsters and fight through dungeons, or you can take a more slice-of-life approach, farming in the fields and finding someone to marry in your neighborhood.

Rune Factory 5 will be out for the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2021 (Japan) and sometime later in the west.
