The Diablo 4 Season 1 start date has officially been revealed, alongside more details of what it will offer.
During a developer live stream, the team behind Diablo announced everything you could want to know about the inaugural season, and we’re here to give you the goods.
The Diablo 4 Season 1 start date is just on the horizon
When does Diablo 4 Season 1 release?
The Diablo 4 Season 1 start date is July 20, when players will be able to jump in and partake in the Season of the Malignant.
When the first season drops, players wanting to participate will need to make a brand-new character and mark it as a seasonal character. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to jump in.
If you want to move some of your renown benefits over, make sure to log in to your eternal (pre-season) character between July 18 to July 20. This will tell the game that you have already achieved things and make it so you don’t have to in Season 1.
What’s new in Diablo 4 Season 1?
The season will bring quite a few new legendary items, socketable items, a fresh story, a battle pass, a seasonal journey, and more.
Caged Hearts will be a new item for players to farm to insert into their jewelry for some exciting new benefits. If you’re wondering what those benefits are, it was stated that they provided “stupid new broken builds that are hopefully balanced.”
You’ll find these by taking down Malignant Hearts, some fun encounters that have been added as part of Diablo 4 Season 1: Season of the Malignant.
What is the theme of Diablo 4 Season 1?
The theme of Season 1 involves a new threat, and they did make sure to state that this is not a continuation of the Diablo 4 story but rather a new side story.
The description, as provided via the official Diablo 4 Season 1 blog, reads as follows:
“A new form of Lilith’s corruption has spread throughout Sanctuary, creating Malignant Monsters that roam the land overtaken with this infectious turmoil, minds lost and killing at random. Only you can fight back and harness the power of this twisted corruption to uncover the source of the Malignance and put it to an end.”
