Nintendo recently announced that the Switch version of Super Mario 3D World will now include a bundled expansion on release. The game was last playable on the WiiU in 2013.

While the game might look like a simple copy-and-paste, Super Mario 3D World on Switch optimizes everything to a finer touch for a new generation of gamers.

Players can expect better graphics on the Italian plumber and his troop and a significant boost in actual game speed and orientation. If you compare the two trailers of the original WiiU and the Switch versions, you can easily see the Switch version having faster characters and more dynamic camera movements that were missing in the previous iteration.

As for its gameplay, Super Mario 3D World puts Mario and friends back into the same countless colorful areas that will have you jumping around like a cat or even taking out hordes of minions with a few Fire Mario doppelgangers.

As for its expansion, Bowser’s Fury will have Mario join forces with Bowser Jr. and trek through various worlds to defeat his big bad dad. While not much has been said about the expansion, you can see Bowser transform into a Kaiju-like monster while Cat Mario takes on the challenge with a gigantic super bell.

To celebrate of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros, Nintendo will also be releasing a special edition Mario Red & Blue Switch to be released on the same day as Super Mario 3D World. Priced at US$300, the console and Joy-Cons sport Mario’s colors and comes with a carrying case that embraces Mario’s iconic features.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will be out on February 12, 2021.
