The first Playoff day at the CDA-FDC Dota 2 Professional Championship has concluded, with Royal Never Give Up (RNG) and EHOME dominating Team Aster and Invictus Gaming (IG) to advance to the second round of the Upper Bracket.

The first round of the Upper Bracket opened with RNG taking on Aster. It was initially seen as a fairly equal matchup, as both teams finished their respective group stage runs with a 2-1 match record and a 4-3 map record.

RNG quickly proved they were the better team, however, as they blitzed to a 26-minute victory in game one. Midlaner Gao “Setsu” Zhenxiong had a 9/2/10 KDA on his mid Lina to pace RNG’s dominant showing to the tune of a lopsided 31-9 kill score.

Aster put up a much better fight in game two, but RNG still ended up with an easy victory after 36 minutes of action. Four RNG players finished the game with seven kills apiece, with Setsu once again leading the way with a clean 7/0/20 line on Zeus.

The next matchup saw EHOME face off against IG, with the former coming in as the clear favorites to take the series.

Song “Sccc” Chun and his squad showed why they were the favorites in a clean 42-minute victory in game one. EHOME midlaner Guo “Xm” Hongcheng notched a series-high 14 kills against just two deaths on his mid Doom to allow Sccc’s Lone Druid to take over and end up with 10 kills of his own.

In game two, Sccc’s Phantom Lancer and offlaner Yang “Chalice”‘ Shenyi’s Bloodseeker took control, as they both finished with 12 kills to lead their team to another 42-minute victory and sweep the series, 2-0.

With their victories, RNG and EHOME advance to the second round of the Upper Bracket. There, EHOME will be taking on PSG.LGD while RNG will challenge the Four Angry Men (4AM) superteam.

Meanwhile, IG and Aster drop down to the Lower Bracket, where they will await the losers of the Upper Bracket second round matches.
