The Chainsaw Man manga unravels a brand new story within Denji‘s devil-infested universe.

Part 2 of Chainsaw Man focuses on a new protagonist named Asa Mitaka — an introverted high school student who detests small talk, class activities, and devils — and her everyday life after the events of Part 1.

Denji continues his life as a vigilante devil, but now acts as an older brother to his newest housemate.

To get you acquainted with new faces, here’s a detailed introduction to Nayuta in Chainsaw Man, including her background story, personality, and first appearance in the manga.

Warning: Major spoilers if you haven’t read the end of Part 1 and chapter 120 of the Chainsaw Man manga.

Who is Nayuta in Chainsaw Man Part 2?

Nayuta is a supporting character in Chainsaw Man Part 2. She is the reincarnation of the Control Devil following Makima’s death in Part 1.

Nayuta first appears as a child when Kishibe introduces her to Denji at the end of Part 1. Denji recognizes her as Makima after she bites his finger.

Working off the record, Kishibe explains that he discovered her in China and brought her back to Tokyo. He’s reluctant on handing her over to the government because she might end up like Makima.

To make sure that she’s kept safe, Kishibe entrusts the young girl to Denji. Denji also acts as a contingency plan since only he can face the Control Devil head-on.

In a dream, Pochita reveals to Denji that the Control Devil wishes to have close relationships, but can only get close to people through fear. Since Denji gave Pochita the dream of having a better life, it also asks for him to make Nayuta’s life better by cherishing her.

Denji eventually warms up to the idea of having her around. Just like him, she loves sliced bread and dogs.

In Part 2, Nayuta walks in on Asa and Denji kissing in their apartment and immediately controls the visitor with her powers. She’s able to make her act like a dog.

Denji gets mad at the interruption, but Nayuta rationalizes her actions by saying that Asa is “spitting” on her property, referring to the devil-hybrid. Denji demands that she turns Asa back into her normal self. Nayuta reluctantly agrees and adds two conditions that he has to abide by.

Nayuta asks him to buy her ice cream every day and to stop being friendly with Asa. Even though he finds the high schooler harmless, Nayuta brought up that every girl that gets close to him tries to kill him and that she has a “scent”, which might be from Asa’s relation to Yoru, the War Devil.

Nayuta then alters Asa’s memories so that she thinks Denji forgot about their date.

Nayuta’s personality in Chainsaw Man

Nayuta acts like a typical adolescent who always tries to get their way. She just tries to live a simple life with Denji and her dogs.

The young girl shows minute tendencies of the Control Devil and even sports similar spiral eyes to Makima. She often trusts her guts when it comes to the strangers that she meets.

While not much has been revealed about her powers, Nayuta has the power to control people by casting a chain into their heads. She can also alter the memory of people like what she did with Asa during their apartment date.

First appearance of Nayuta in Chainsaw Man

Nayuta first appears in chapter 97 as the new reincarnation of the Control Devil.
