Looks like Street Fighter fans will be turning up the heat!

Capcom has revealed that Capcom Cup 2020 is set to take place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic from February 19 to 21, 2021.

This exciting news was followed by the announcement that Oliver “Luffy” Hay had won the final spot at Capcom Cup 2020 by way of a fan vote. As such, he will now be joining 19 other top contenders, undoubtedly the best in the world, for the first physical Capcom event since the COVID-19 global pandemic hit in over a year.

“The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana was selected after an extensive process of reviewing locations around the globe,” explained Capcom, “The resort was selected because of its facilities, travel-friendly environment, and stringent COVID-19 protocols.” True enough, Capcom has promised that strict procedures will be implemented to ensure the safety of the players, staff, and production partners.

Going into the final stage of the Capcom Pro Tour, the rules indicate that the participating players, who will be competing for the bulk of US$200,000, are going to be divided into four groups. Two from each group, consequently ranked first and second place in the elimination round, will then advance to the final tournament.

Happening alongside this event on February 19 is the Street Fighter League World Championship, in which the two best U.S. teams and two best Japanese teams will be facing off for the world title. The Capcom Cup Top 20 is scheduled on February 20, while the Grand Finals will be held on February 21.

Fans can check out the events which will be streamed across the Capcom Fighters Network, including channels on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
