If you’re on the market for a new wireless gaming mouse, you’ve most likely been seeing the Zowie U2 wireless mouse.

ONE Esports had the opportunity to have a review mouse sent to us by Zowie, and we’ll be giving you our full Zowie U2 wireless review.

BenQ ZOWIE XL2546X review: Esports monitor perfection

As I’ve done in previous reviews of peripherals meant to be marketed toward competitive gamers, I’ll provide a little background of myself, the reviewer, so you know where I’m coming from.

In Counter-Strike: Global Offensive I coached a Mountain Dew League team, made it into FACEIT Pro League Challengers, and held an A+ rank on ESEA along with hitting Global Elite in matchmaking.

I also hit Immortal 3 around Season 1 or 2 of Valorant, solo queued to Diamond in Apex (before there was Masters), and hit Onyx in Halo Infinite on mouse and keyboard to name a few.

Now let’s get into the Zowie U2 wireless review.

The thing I love the most about the Zowie U2 is actually not the mouse itself, but how it charges.

Gone are the days of having to unplug your receiver and plug in the mouse directly or having to cable up your mouse when it dies on you.

In addition to the big specs on the enhanced receiver for the Zowie U2, it also serves as a charging dock. That’s right, you simply finish using the mouse after a session and just set it down on the dock and bam, the mouse is charging right back up.

This is a feature that I believe every single wireless mouse now needs to implement. It’s almost worth switching mice strictly for the quality of life this provides.

It’s not the lightest mouse, but it’s definitely light

At 60g, the Zowie U2 is definitely still one of the lighter wireless mice on the market. It’s beat by a few others like the Razer Viper V3 pro, but it’s on par with many other lightweight wireless options or even slightly edges out ones like the Logitech Superlight which comes in at 63g.

If you’re worried about heavy mice, you have no need to be concerned with it comes to the U2.

Built for claw grip gamers

It’s double curved sides makes it ideal for those who use a claw grip rather than a palm grip style.

According to the official mouse description, “the left-side curved design, combined with the overall curve of the back, reduces the thumb angle, which supports a faster index finger click speed.”

Whereas the “right-side curved design facilitates easy placement of the ring finger, which promotes balanced force exertion on both sides of the hand and allows for better stability during mouse movement.”

The mouse feels good in my hand, although I’m not a full claw grip, and it glides well. It has larger skates versus corners only which is something I greatly prefer.

Zowie U2 is a plug-and-play mouse

Unlike many of its competitors, the Zowie U2 doesn’t require drivers, software, and more to get it to be what you want it to be.

You can adjust the report (polling) rate and DPI both from buttons located on the button of the mouse. This is ideal, as you’re not going to accidently change your DPI by hitting a button on top of the mouse.

When it comes to those metrics, the report rate can be 125, 500, and 1,000 hz. For DPI it offers 400, 800, 1,000, 1,200, 1,600, and 3,200.

Conclusion of the Zowie U2 review

Overall, if you’re looking for a solid mouse with the basics in terms of DPI, polling rate, and sensor along with the quality of life when it comes to charging and plug-and-play, then this is the mouse for you.

It’s leading the pack in my opinion when it comes to out of the box quality of life, but it’s not up front with things like single point DPI adjustments or higher polling rates. It’s worth noting that the jury is still out on whether those higher polling rates really matter though.
