Team Nigma continued their EPIC League hot streak by defeating fellow European contender Alliance, 2-0, during their group stage match.

Nigma’s legendary captain, Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi looked to be in top form, both in drafting and performing as the team’s hard support player.

KuroKy has one of the best minds when it comes to drafting heroes in Dota 2, and in Nigma’s match against Alliance, this was definitely on display with his Undying and Phoenix support tandem.

In the first game of the series, Nigma had their way with Alliance thanks to the insane amount of healing both KuroKy and Maroun “GH” Merhej provided the team during team fights.

Instead of getting an initiation kill right at the start of the fight, Nigma’s healing constantly forced Alliance to overextend themselves. And because of Nigma’s superior draft, the longer the team fights went, the worse it was for Alliance.

With Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi playing the hard carry Anti-Mage, the game quickly spiraled out of control for Alliance, as they were forced to call good game at the 25-minute mark.

In the next game of the series, Nigma was able to draft both Undying and Phoenix yet again, which unsurprisingly produced the exact same result. But instead of having Miracle- play the late game carry, it was Omar “w33” Aliwi who provided damage with his signature Meepo.

KuroKy is known as a player who is not afraid to experiment with off-meta lineups. During his time playing under the Team Liquid banner, he was famous for his novel draft strategies.

They don’t work out all the time, but when KuroKy does find something that clicks, his lineups can be almost unbeatable until someone can work out how to counter them.

The rest of the teams at the EPIC League should be very scared right now because based on what Nigma just did to Alliance, KuroKy is definitely on to something.
