Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner’s passion for Dota is well-documented, and now the host, caster, and content creator is tackling his most ambitious project to date.

Together with the Moonduck Studios team, SirActionSlacks has started an Indiegogo community fundraiser with a target goal of US$50,000 to pay for a highly detailed beginners guide to Dota 2. At time of writing, the page has raised US$28,400.

“Our main goal is to get them used to the game, learn its mechanics, and prepare them for their first bot match” said SirActionSlacks.

The reason behind the high price for the project is ActionSlacks will be paying modders to fully customize the tutorial, and translators to get it localized for South America and China.

The Community Tutorial Project is in its third week of development and has a working demo for patrons who’ve donated to the fundraiser. The current build includes voice lines from SirActionSlacks himself, as well as Shannon “SUNSfan” Scotten. The final version will also have recorded lines from Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden, Mason “mason” Venne, Neal “tsunami” Khandheria, and David “GoDz” Parker.

ActionSlacks anticipates a wave of new players for the notoriously difficult to learn MOBA thanks to the launch of Netflix’s upcoming Dota: Dragon’s Blood anime.

Plans are underway to reveal the tutorial in time with the Dragon’s Blood anime’s premiere on March 25.
