The latest Counter-Strike 2 update (CS2 update) brings a wave of changes, including a revamped Vertigo map, the highly-anticipated Kilowatt Case, and various other changes.
The last CS2 patch released on May 22 only introduced minor graphics-related changes. Who would have guessed that Valve would drop some major changes to stir things up again in their flagship FPS title?
Here’s a breakdown of everything in the update implemented on May 23.

Vertigo gets a facelift
The iconic Vertigo map has received a significant overhaul.
Players can now navigate a new catwalk connecting bombsite A to its backside, offering additional strategic options.
The connector between A and the elevators has been removed and replaced with an opened-up passage between the elevators and scaffolding.
These changes should open up the map for more dynamic play.
Kilowatt Case arrives
The first-ever weapon case for CS2, the Kilowatt Case, is here.
Valve has filled it with 17 community-designed weapon finishes, offering a chance to personalize your arsenal with some new skins.
The case also features the rare Kukri Knife, a brand-new addition to the CS2 knife collection.
Rental system
The update also introduces a rental system for the Kilowatt Case.
When you open a case with a key, you’ll now have the option to rent the entire collection (excluding the Kukri Knife) for a week instead of receiving a single random item.
This is a great way to try out all the new weapon finishes before committing to a purchase.
Just remember, rented weapons can’t be customized and revert to their stock versions once the rental period ends.
Updates to Molotov and Incendiary grenades
The latest CS2 update tones down the effect of Molotovs and Incendiary grenades.
The height of the flame pillar thrown by both Molotovs and Incendiaries now decreases over time. The duration and area covered by the flames have also been reduced.
To compensate, the price of the Incendiary Grenade has been lowered from $600 to $500, making it a more affordable option.
Chicken and miscellaneous changes
The patch brings a slew of bug fixes, addressing issues with the HUD, demos, and even a pesky wall-shooting exploit on the Office map.
But the real stars of the show might be the chickens. They have received a much-needed upgrade, with new animations for walking uphill and turning right.
