Sigils and Elder Sigils are two new key items in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies that got added to the game with the Season 1 update. It is associated with the new Dark Aether Rift area, and the new storyline players can experience in Act 4 Bad Signal.
Before season 1, the Tier 3 zone was the best location for farming high-tier loot. With the introduction of the Dark Aether Rift and its more difficult altered version, however, it has become the best spot to get some of the best loot in the Zombies game mode.

How to get and use Sigil in MW3 Zombies
In Zombies, you can get a Sigil by doing contracts in the Tier 3 zone, by defeating Mega Abomination, and sometimes from the caches found in the said zone.
Apart from that, players can also place the four key items: the Locked Diary, Surveillance Camera, Gold Pill and the Dog Collar, on the four pedestals found near the Dark Aether Rift area to summon a Mega Abomination who drops a Sigil as loot.
However, the first method is far better than the latter as you must place all four key items in the same match. Moreover, acquiring them is a hassle you can avoid by farming “Kill the Bounty” and other contracts in the Tier 3 zone.
Now, when it comes to using the Sigil, head to the Dark Aether Rift’s location and move towards the centre. You will find the triangular portal where you can interact to consume the Sigil and head inside the Dark Aether Rift.
How to get Elder Sigil in MW3 Zombies
The Elder Sigil is the rare version of Sigil that you can get by doing contracts inside the Dark Aether Rift that you can access using a Sigil.
Once you have obtained an Elder Sigil, you can use it behind the triangular portal gate at the Dark Aether Rift location to access a more challenging version of the Dark Aether Rift with better loot.
