The Holger 556, considered to be one of the most powerful assault rifles in MW3, saw nerfs from multiple angles as part of the November 21 update.

The nerfs included changes to its headshot multiplier along with an increased sprint to fire time and decreased neck, upper-torso, arm, and hand damage multipliers.

Below you can find the exact changes from the 11/21 MW3 patch notes:

  • Holger 556 (Assault Rifle)
    • Decreased headshot damage multiplier from 1.4x to 1.3x.
    • Decreased neck, upper-torso, arm, and hand damage multipliers from 1.1x to 1x.
    • Increased sprint to fire time from 210ms to 231ms (+10%).

Despite a lot of attention being on the Holger nerf, Sledgehammer Games stated the “highlight” of the weapons balance portion was the adjustments to the FR 5.56 and DG-58.

“The highlight of this balance pass is a reduction in the lethality of the FR 5.56 and DG-58. Both Weapons will now require two headshots to kill an enemy with a single 3-round burst fire. Additionally, these changes aim to improve the consistency and viability of Submachine Guns to the intended target for the class,” they said in the summary section of the weapon balance portion of the patch notes.

Outside of weapons, there were changes to movement, progression, the Zombies mode, and much more that may be worth checking out depending on where your focus is. If you want to check out everything the update included, check out the full patch notes here.
