Who is Sabo and what is his role in One Piece?
Sabo first makes his appearance in the storyline during the Dressrosa Arc. However, his roots trace back to the childhood of the series’ protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. He and Luffy, along with Portas D. Ace, formed a trio of brothers who shared a dream – to become powerful pirates and discover the legendary treasure of Gol D. Roger.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, the boys’ fate takes a dark twist. The three brothers set out on their own adventures, but Sabo is seemingly killed by a celestial dragon during an incident in their hometown. This devastating event shapes the lives of both Luffy and Ace, driving them to pursue their dreams with renewed determination.
Unknown to his brothers, Sabo survived the the incident after being rescued by Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army and Luffy’s father. He later became the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army.

Although he had amnesia for ten years and forgot Luffy and Ace. When Sabo regained his memories after Ace’s death, he resolved to protect his remaining brother at all costs.
He then competes in the tournament for the Flame-Flame Fruit, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that grants the user control over fire. Winning the fruit, He inherits Ace’s powers, the ability to produce and manipulate fire, making him an even more formidable force. Additionally, the arc highlights the emotional reunion between him and Luffy, reinforcing the unbreakable bond between the two brothers.
