Warner Bros. Pictures recently announced the adaptation of this popular art-themed manga series by Tsubasa Yamaguchi for the big screen, with a teaser trailer released on April 3.
The manga series debuted in 2017 in Kodansha’s monthly manga magazine, catching the attention of manga fans with the art journey of Yatora Yaguchi.
Following its success, Seven Arcs adapted the series into an anime, with the first season airing from October 2, 2021, to December 18, 2021.
What is Blue Period?
Blue Period centers on Yatora Yaguchi, a second-year high school student. He is a delinquent with top grades but lacks the motivation to find his true passion.
Despite his academic success, he feels unfulfilled and spends time with friends who share his lack of ambition.
One day, he discovers a talent for painting, and decides to pursue admission to the competitive Tokyo University of the Arts to pursue his newfound passion.
However, he faces challenges such as talented competitors, a lack of art knowledge, and parental disapproval.
Yatora must prove that his lack of experience does not hinder his pursuit of his dreams.

The Blue Period live-action features Gordon Maeda as Yatora Yaguchi, Fumiya Takahashi as Ryuji Ayukawa, Rihito Itagaki as Yotasuke Takahashi, and Hiyori Sakurada as Maru Mori.
The film is directed by Kentaro Hagiwara, with Reiko Yoshida as the scriptwriter.
Hagiwara, known for his work on the Tokyo Ghoul live-action movie released in 2017, brings his expertise in adapting manga and anime to the big screen to this project.
