Many think that gaming is only for the young ones, but Carmen “Lola Gaming” Taqueban is here to prove them wrong.

The 74-year-old is a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang player and streamer who has defied this notion. As an avid fan of the game, Lola has spent hours playing MLBB and sharing the experience with her viewers through her Facebook gaming page which has around 145K followers at the time of writing.

She can be seen on her stream rocking her main heroes, Angela, Khaleed, and Uranus, who, according to her, became her favorite because the tank hero is as tough as her.

In an interview, Lola Gaming shared that her gaming journey started during the period of pandemic in 2020 when she noticed her grandchildren being too occupied playing Mobile Legends, and not helping her with the household chores.

She got curious and her grandson, Johnrey, decided to teach her how to play. He also asked if he could broadcast her playing on Facebook, to which she agreed.

“I didn’t even know what to press,” Lola Gaming shared. “I was even getting killed by minions.”

They noticed that viewers started pouring in as she started to enjoy gaming. The more she learned about the game, the more hours she spent playing it.

“Before, I used to spend 8 hours a day playing. My grandchildren are the ones reminding me to take a break, so I toned it down to 6 hours. Now, I limit myself to 2 hours of playtime because they keep on telling me I should take care of my eyes. But sometimes I push it to 3 hours.”

When asked how she feels about playing Mobile Legends, her initial response is “It makes me happy.”

“As someone of my age, I feel happy playing video games. I didn’t know it would feel like this. That’s why I’m saying older people should also start playing Mobile Legends.”

On dealing with toxic players and viewers, Lola Gaming said she was bothered at first. But being a streamer, she came to accept the fact that these people are part of the community and she should not let them take away the enjoyment she gets from playing.

Being a streamer, Lola Gaming also feels like she has a moral responsibility to her younger viewers that is why she keeps reminding them to pursue their studies, as she believes this will be something they will treasure in the future.

Lola also expressed her gratitude towards Moonton for being the reason for her new-found passion. “I would like to thank Moonton for giving us Mobile Legends because it has become a part of my life that brings me joy whenever I sit on my chair and go live,” said the sweet old lady.
