He is League of Legends’ first true human male spell caster intended for the mid lane. Packing a complex kit with 10 unique spells, he is a high skill cap champion who requires hours to master, and will definitely impact pro play.

When is Hwei coming out on PBE?

The last time Riot released a mage was two years ago in 2021 when Vex was added to the roster in patch 13.21.

During a media roundtable, the Riot Games design team shared that they noticed that their control mage roster in mid is primarily dominated by monsters and non-human individuals like Vex herself, Orianna, Xerath, Malzahar, and Ziggs to name a few. You get the picture.

And so, we’re ready to welcome the game’s first true human male mage. Hwei will be on PBE test servers on November 20, 2023.

Which patch will Hwei be released?

Hwei will be release on League of Legends patch 13.24. We can expect him to go on live servers on December 6.
