The Split 1 Playoffs is the first major LAN event in the fourth year of ALGS, the professional esports circuit for the popular hero shooter game published by Electronic Arts (EA) and Respawn Entertainment.

It hosts the world’s 40 best teams that qualified through the professional leagues in North America, EMEA, APAC North, and APAC South, as well as the Challenger Circuits in South America and direct invites in China.

Aside from the cash prize, the squads also vie for Playoffs Points that are essential to qualify for the ALGS Championship, the game’s world championship tournament.

The tournament is divided into three stages: Group Stage, Bracket Stage, and Finals.

In Group Stage, the 40 teams are split into four groups of 10 teams each. Every group plays against another group in a round robin format, and each team plays a three-match series (a match series is composed of six games).

After the Group Stage, the top 20 teams advance to the winners bracket of the Bracket Stage, while the bottom 20 go to the losers bracket 1.

The Bracket Stage features a one-match series in each round. The top 10 teams in the winners bracket enter the Finals, while the bottom 10 drop to losers bracket round 2.

On the other hand, the top 10 teams in the losers bracket round 1 advance to round 2, and face the losing squads from the winners bracket for the remaining spots in the Finals. The losers in this round are eliminated.

The 20 remaining teams compete under the Match Point Format in the Finals, with the 10 squads from the winners bracket having Advance Starting Points based on their placements.

In the Match Point Format, the first team to hit 50 points and then secure a first-place finish in upcoming matches is crowned as the champion.
