What is Stormgate?

Stormgate is a compelling blend of fantasy and sci-fi, unfolding in a post-apocalyptic setting set in the near future. The game thrusts players into the midst of an apocalyptic event triggered by an alien race of infernal demonic invaders. These invaders have swept through various worlds, decimating civilizations and subjecting humanity to their rule.

In the wake of this chaos, diverse factions begin to form, with survivors, militias, and marauders carving out their niche in the post-apocalyptic landscape. What sets Stormgate apart is its infusion of hard sci-fi elements, introducing battle mechs, spaceships, and cybernetics into the series.

Aside from having former Starcaft 2 and Warcraft 3 team members, Frost Giant Studios also has staff who’ve worked on legendary gaming franchises like Diablo 2, Command and Conquer, and Wasteland 3.

How to get the Stormgate Collector’s Edition?

The Stormgate Collector’s Edition offers a unique blend of physical and digital rewards.

At its core, this edition showcases the impressive Vulcan statue — a 6.5-inch mech figure renowned as the Vanguard army’s defining unit.

Priced at US$200, the Collector’s Edition is a comprehensive package. For those seeking an even more exclusive experience, there’s an option to pledge US$350 for the Signed Collector’s Edition.

This premium version includes all items in the Collector’s Edition, along with a signed picture from all members of the Stormgate staff. As a special touch, your name will be featured in the game credits, recognizing your valuable contribution to the Stormgate franchise.

The Stormgate Collector’s Edition will only be available until February 2, when the Kickstarter campaign ends.

Stormgate release date

Those with the “Preview Week” reward will access the beta playtest a week before the early access launch.

Meanwhile, holders of the “2024 Beta Wave 1” reward will gain beta playtest access in February 2024.

Stormgate will have three distinct asymmetric factions at early access, each with unique gameplay, identity, and core mechanics.

Frost Giant Studio has also stated that the beta playtest will not be continuously available throughout 2024.

Stormgate gameplay

Developed by Frost Giant Studios using Unreal Engine 5, Stormgate’s Snowplay feature supports thousands of units in a single map, allowing for expansive battles.

Stormgate has a one to three-player campaign, a three-player co-op, 1v1 and 3v3 competitive matchmaking, and custom game features similar to Warcraft and Starcraft.

With the capability to accommodate up to 32 players in a single lobby, the game promises a dynamic multiplayer experience.

Additionally, Stormgate incorporates mass spectating and rollback netcode, ensuring optimal connections even in high-latency conditions.
