A year after it was announced, Pokemon’s first strategic team battle game Pokemon UNITE is almost ready for its global release.

Nintendo announced that Switch users will be the first in line to play the game, followed by mobile users a few months later.

The developers are also planning to roll out a cross-platform update soon to allow Switch and mobile players to battle with each another.

Additionally, the game will also be localized in French, Italian, German, and Spanish later this year.

The Pokemon MOBA game will be released on the Nintendo Switch this July 2021 and on mobile devices in September.

Developed by video game giants The Pokémon Company and Tencent’s TiMi Studios, this Pokemon MOBA game functions slightly differently than the MOBA games we’re used to.

The objective of the game is to score more points than the opposing team within the ten-minute time limit.

Teams score points by gaining control over a capturable area, similar to League of Legends’ now long-gone Dominion game mode.

The game will be set on Aeos Island and will have a total of 19 playable Pokemon at launch, including Gen 1 favorites like Charizard, Snorlax, Venusaur, Gengar, and of course Pikachu.
