It’s been nearly a decade since Fallout 4 was released and it’s now back in conversations with the release of the much-awaited Fallout 4 next gen update.
Announced back in 2022, the next gen update includes a lot of new content as well as major performance improvements to the beloved Bethesda title on consoles and PCs.
In this guide, we’ll take a look at all the new content players can look forward to in their return to the Commonwealth with the Fallout 4 next gen update.
Everything new in the Fallout 4 next gen Update
Fallout 4 next gen update — Native PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Applications
Perhaps the most defining feature of the next gen update is the performance improvement on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The consoles will now have their native versions with performance and quality modes included.
The Performance mode targets 60 FPS at 4K resolution while the Quality mode targets 40 FPS at 4K.
There’s also a 120Hz display mode option where the game will run at 40 FPS on Quality Mode and a 1440p display mode where the game will run at 60 FPS ultra settings regardless of any graphics mode.
Fallout 4 next gen update — Enclave Remnants
The Enclave, one of the well-known factions in the Fallout 4 universe returns in a new storyline as part of the Creation Club update.
The storyline starts with the side quest Echoes of the Past, which is automatically added at the start of the game.
In addition to this, players will also be able to get the Enclave Hellfire Power Armor, Enclave Power Armor Paint and Enclave-themed workshop cosmetics and weapons skins by completing the related questline.
Fallout 4 next gen update — Hellfire and X-02 Power Armor
Players can also get two more unique power armors, the Hellfire and X-02 Power Armors.
The Hellfire power armor can be gained from the Pyromaniac side quest while the X-02 Power Armor can be gained from the Speak of the Devil side quest.
Fallout 4 next gen update — Makeshift Weapon Pack
This weapon pack has a lot of unique weapons including two grenade launchers, a Nail Gun, a baseball launcher, a Saw blade launcher and a Fat Man that shoots piggy banks.
The side quest for these items– ‘When Pigs Fly’, will automatically be added at the start of the game.
Fallout 4 next gen update — Halloween Workshop
A lot of Halloween-themed cosmetics will be available via the new ‘All Hallow’s Eve’ side quest in the game, automatically added at the start.
Completing this quest will reward players with Halloween decorations in the workshop. Players can also get the De-Capitalist helmet and Jack ’O Lantern mask as well.
Fallout 4 next gen update — Tesla Cannon and Heavy Incinerator
Two more unique weapons added are the Tesla Cannon and Heavy Incinerator. The Tesla Cannon can be gained from the Best of Three side quest, added at the start of the game.
This shoots electric bolts and shocks your enemies. The Heavy Incinerator shoots fireballs at your enemies and burns them. This one can be gained from the Crucible side quest, also added during the start of the game.
