Now in its seventh edition, the competition brings together the best players in the Age of Empires series across the world.

Red Bull has announced the details of the tournament, which starts on April 30, 2024, with the qualifying tournaments.

What is Red Bull Wololo El Reinado?

Red Bull Wololo is an iconic global tournament featuring different games of the Age of Empires series.

Age of Empires comprises a collection of historical real-time strategy video games, originally developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios.

The series focuses on events from history, spanning from the Stone Age to the Iron Age; the later games expanded the timeline to include the Middle Ages and beyond.

Players choose a civilization and advance it through the ages, gathering resources, constructing buildings, training military units, and researching technologies. The goal of the game is typically to defeat all opposing civilizations.

The Age of Empires series has been a commercial success, selling over 25 million copies. It is considered one of the most influential real-time strategy games of all time and has spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs.

This year, Red Bull Wololo El Reinado features four of the nine titles in the series: Age of Empires I, II, IV, and Age of Mythology: Retold.

Reigning champions Roberto “TaToH” Jiménez (Age of Empires II) and Alexis “MarineLorD” Eusebio (Age of Empires IV) from Red Bull Wololo: Legacy in 2022 are back to defend their respective crowns against a slew of contenders.

Meanwhile, the best players from the qualifiers clash in Age of Empire I and Age of Mythology: Retold.

Red Bull Wololo El Reinado schedule

The main event takes place from October 3 to 6, 2024 at the Castillo de Almodóvar del Río, in Cordoba, Spain.

Qualification through the ranked ladder for Age of Empires II, the tournament’s flagship game, runs from April 30 to July 28, 2024, with the four highest-ranked players entering the main event.

A last chance qualifier happens from August 10 to 18, 2024 to determine the players taking the final two spots.

For Age of Empires IV, the qualifying tournament takes place from July 20 to August 4, 2024, in a double-elimination format, with the top two players advancing to the main event.

For Age of Empires I, a qualifier in Vietnam occurs before the main event to determine the finalists.

Lastly, for Age of Mythology: Retold, online qualifiers are set before the main event to identify the two players joining the two direct invites in the LAN tournament.
