The v8.20 update for Fortnite: Battle Royale has been released, headlined by the additions of a new poison dart trap weapon, the ‘Floor is Lava’ limited-time mode, and foraged regenerative items.

The Floor is Lava limited-time mode, as its name suggests, will have players duke it out as the map is slowly submerged in the boiling hot lava spewing from the volcano in the middle of the map.

Once you drop into the match, you need to quickly loot and gather materials so that you can be the first to reach the high ground once the lava begins to rise after a few minutes.

The lava will rise at a steady speed and will not stop until the entire map is covered. Touching the lava will obviously deal damage directly to your health and bounce you up in the air.

You can, however, build on the lava in order to avoid getting burned. As such, you will also be given a small number of materials every second, which is especially useful once you reach the stage where the entire map is on fire.

The new Poison Dart Trap is an Uncommon Rarity weapon that can be placed on walls, floors, and ceilings to fire Poison Dart projectiles that directly deal damage-over-time to an enemy’s health. Since the damage from the poison darts ignore shields, this new weapon will be useful in either keeping enemies at bay or catching them unawares.

There will now also be regenerative items that can be foraged around the map, these include bananas, coconuts, and peppers.

The bananas instantly grant 5 health when consumed and can be found in the tropical biome.

Coconuts can be foraged by damaging the palm trees that are found in the tropical and desert biomes. They will give 5 points of effective health over a short period of time, which also means that they will replenish your shields if you are already at full health.

Lastly, peppers from the desert biome instantly grant 5 health when consumed. In addition, they will also increase your movement speed by 20% for 10 seconds after consumption.

Also in this update, the Baller will no longer deal damage to players on collision, but will still knock them back. In the next update, players will be able to shoot through the glass parts of the Baller.
