Chinese powerhouse team, Vici Gaming, has won the OGA Dota Pit 2020 Online: China tournament defeating regional rival, PSG.LGD, in the grand final thanks to some stellar play from Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun.

After winning the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational in Singapore last December, Vici Gaming has remained active in various online Dota 2 regional tournaments and placed well. But this is the first online competition they’ve won since Valve decided to put the 2019-2020 DPC season on hold.

VG’s lineup was firing on all cylinders and outperformed their opponents, including a PSG.LGD squad who’ve had a recent resurgence following some pivotal roster adjustments.

Game One

In the first game of the series, VG implemented an aggressive strategy and tried to force multiple team fights. But PSG.LGD’s more mobile lineup was perfectly suited to counter VG’s playstyle.

With VG struggling to find success in team fights, they hoped they could turn things around with a Divine Rapier on Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang’s Medusa. But with PSG.LGD’s superior hero line up, they were able to bring down the enemy Medusa hard carry and Yang “Chalice” Shenyi’s Phantom Lancer picked up the Divine Rapier for himself, forcing VG to surrender the first game of the series.

Game Two

In game two, VG decided to go with another Medusa and Mars draft for Ori and Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun, this time with better results.

With Chalice’s Arc Warden and Lu “Somnus`M” Yao’s Ember Spirit struggling the entire game, VG’s lineup won most of the team fights in the second game. Zhou “Yang” Haiyang had a standout performance on his Beastmaster finishing with an 8/1/16 KDA score.

Game Three

VG’s third game of the series was quick and easy, as PSG.LGD appeared completely outmatched. Eurus’ Morphling took control of the game early and finished with a 10/0/6 perfect KDA score.

Game Four

In the final game, PSG.LGD looked like they were going to extend the series after taking down VG’s melee barracks in the middle lane. But after Eurus’ Slark was able to eliminate and end Somnus`M’s Mega Kill streak on Templar Assassin, VG proceeded to burst down PSG.LGD’s core heroes, which ultimately gave them control of the game.

After multiple key pickoffs by VG, PSG.LGD eventually lost the battle of attrition and failed to defend their base with Chalice and Somnus`M out of the game.

For their victory, Vici Gaming went home with the grand prize of US$25,000.
