Chinese superstar mid-player for Newbee, Song “Sccc” Chun, will be joining a new team for the 2019-2020 season.

Team Aster announced its acquisition of Sccc on their official Weibo account, and he will be playing alongside Lin “Xxs” Jing, Ye “BoBoKa” Zhibiao, and Fu “Q” Bin.

Sccc is slated to play either at position 1 or 2, as Aster is still finalizing its roster, with Liu “Kamma” Chang and Kee Chyuan “ChYuan” Ng still on trial for the last spot on the team.

Sccc is known for being one of the best mid players in China during his time with Newbee. He had his start with the org’s Academy team, Newbee Young, in 2015 and was moved to the main squad in September 2016. Sccc notably led Newbee to the Grand Finals of The International 2017, where they lost to Team Liquid, 0-3.

Newbee failed to follow up on that run the next year however, bowing out in 13th-16th place in The International 2018. The org’s Chinese roster could not qualify for The International 2019 — only getting into the tournament by acquiring the players of the now-defunct Forward Gaming — which led to Sccc’s departure on August 27.

Sccc will now have another chance at being the star player for an illustrious organization. Team Aster, notably co-owned by Chinese Dota legend Xu “BurNing” Zhilei, could surely use a premier talent like him, as the org has failed to qualify for any Dota Pro Circuit events in the previous season.
