Team Liquid faced off against rivals TSM to decide the final playoff placements to end the LCS 2020 Summer Split. With TSM currently one game down against runners-up Cloud9, Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and his squad could potentially force second place tiebreakers if they defeat Liquid.

The game was fairly close between the teams. While Liquid broke down the top lane’s towers for some gold income, TSM was racking up drakes for the buff advantage. The two teams eventually met in the river, only to trade three kills and still keep things even.

With TSM one drake away from Soul point, Doublelift and his squad committed to a hard rush for the final dragon without their top laner, Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik and his Gangplank. Though Mingyi “Spica” Lu’s Lee Sin was able to pick up the Ocean Soul, the smite fight immediately turned into an outnumbered 4v5 clash in Liquid’s favor.

Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in landed his hook on Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg’s Zoe and also pulled back Doublelift’s Xayah into range while the rest of Liquid claimed four kills with no casualties.

Though Broken Blade’s Gangplank was doing his best to halt the full-squad push down the mid lane, Liquid easily razed the Nexus turrets and its defenders for a glorious finish over their rivals.

“We’re not going to lose to TSM,” Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen said in the post-game interview. “It was a pretty close game, but I’m happy that we came on top of the others.”

With the season-ending win, Liquid will enter the 2020 LCS Summer Playoffs as the first seed while TSM loses their chances at the tiebreaker and will enter the playoffs as the third seed.

The 2020 LCS Summer Playoffs will start on August 14 with TSM going against Golden Guardians.
