Week 4 of the 2021 LCK Summer season featured a League of Legends rivalry between telecommunications-based teams T1 and KT Rolster, better known as the “Telecom War”.

The two teams have been trying to break ground in the current season. Despite beating Spring champions DWG KIA in the first week, KT Rolster struggled against more composed teams.

As for T1, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and the senior line-up have been hovering around the middle of the leaderboard with a 3-3 record.

Game one of the Telecom War showcased T1’s skills in a poke-heavy composition.

Though Faker’s Twisted Fate fell victim to an all-out tower dive by KT Rolster, Ryu “Keria” Min-seok’s Karma, Kim “Canna” Chang-dong’s Jayce, and Park “Teddy” Jin-seong’s Ezreal retaliated.

Once Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan’s Rumble landed an Equalizer to slow down KT’s retreat, the trio advanced, and laid down a barrage of pokes for two kills.

Teddy continued the chase with a quick Arcane Shift into the jungle, and landed a deadly sequence of attacks on Kang “Blank” Sun-gu’s Volibear.

In the late game, Teddy’s crew was eyeing another Baron for the final push when they spotted a few KT members in the jungle.

With Teddy leading the charge, the rest of T1 backed up the AD carry with kills on Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek’s Senna and Kim “Dove” Jae-yeon’s Akali. Faker added to a body count with a flanking Destiny and a killer Gold Card on Lee “Harp” Ji-yoong’s Lux.

After the one-sided fight, T1 went straight for the opponent’s Nexus, and even picked up the ace to end game one with a bang.

Faker and Canna prove that they are LCK’s best playmakers

Things were looking grim for T1 once KT Rolster tied up the series, but the Demon King turned the tides with a Baron clash in game three.

Even though they were one man down, the T1 quartet interrupted their attack on Baron with a Solar Flare and Crescent Guard wombo combo. Canna’s Wukong took out Dove’s Lucian right at the beginning, and helped his teammates clean out the river.

Faker on Karma poked down the remaining opponents from afar, securing a flashy triple kill and the Baron.

In the final clash, Canna locked onto Noah’s Varus to take out KT’s damage output. The Wukong player finessed his way around the backline with his clones, and utilized the second Cyclone charge to eliminate the AD carry.

Cuzz’s Xin Zhao was an equally offensive threat, solo killing Dove with ease and assisting the kill on Blank’s Rumble.

With only two left to defend, the entire T1 squad sieged KT’s base to claim the first Telecom War of the Summer season.

With the Telecom War victory, T1 currently holds a 4-3 record and will face Afreeca Freecs on July 3 at 4 p.m. GMT+8.
