Touhou Genso Wanderer Foresight is a dungeon-crawling roguelike RPG. It is the newest adventure in the Fushigi no Gensokyo series, known for its mysterious roguelike gameplay (also called “Fushigi no Danjyon” in Japan).
It follows the success of Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded (2018) and Touhou Genso Wanderer Lotus Labyrinth R (2019).
While the Touhou Project belongs to Team Shanghai Alice, these Touhou Genso Wanderer games are an independent, fan-made creation, inspired by the bullet hell shoot ’em up series that’s been captivating players since 1997.
In an exclusive ONE Esports interview, the Touhou Genso Wanderer Foresight game developers talk about the new features they added to Foresight and explain why they made these decisions.

The game developers were inspired by previous works in the series. “Many users had asked for a new game that followed the existing rules, and our own desire to play a new Touhou Genso Wanderer grew, so we decided to create this game,” they told ONE Esports.
While the roguelike basic ruleset remains the same, they still wanted to introduce new systems, specifically to make the game easier to play, and at the same time, more challenging, which was a difficult to balance.
The game’s system is based on typical roguelike gameplay features full of dungeon-crawling adventures. However, they acknowledge that it can be painful to lose equipment upon death alongside level resets.
“We have chosen to avoid the permadeath situation in roguelike games, which has potential to trigger players to quit the game,” the game developers said, who feel most satisfied when players have fun and complete their titles.
In all, the story is expected to take about 20 hours to complete. If you add in challenges, it comes up to 50 hours.
Besides Touhou Project fans, they hope that these changes will also attract games who enjoy the rougelike sub-RPG genre that offers procedurally generated levels, turn-based gameplay, and an emphasis on resource management.
