There are plenty of foes to smack your sword and shield against in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and that means durability damage.

The feature returns in the latest installment in the franchise, with a new and unique way of repairing the damage done.

If you’ve been playing the game a bit, you may have come across an Octorok. These creatures have multiple attacks, including one in which they chew up and spit out flaming rocks.

You want that to be your weapon!

Let me explain.

The Octoroks have another ability, the vortex, in which they suck up rocks or other items, which they then chew up and spit out.

To repair your weapons, you’ll want to drop the damaged item in front of the creature so that it can use the sucking vortex on it. It will then take your item, chew it up, and spit it out. You should see some sparkles appear above the Octorok to indicate that it worked.

In terms of how you get your weapon back, you can either just defeat the monster or wait for it to spit the weapon back out. Easy enough!

One caveat is that you can only repair one item via a singular Octorok. This means if you’ve already used them all up, you’ll need to wait for a new blood moon for them to reset.

It’s also worth noting that you can use this to repair bows and shields in addition to the melee weapons.
