Following the footsteps of most PlayStation 5 games, FF7 Rebirth offers graphics options where players can choose between graphics or performance modes that impact the visual fidelity and FPS of the game.

FF7 Rebirth graphics vs performance is an important distinction as they are two optimization settings that you can select via the graphics section of the game settings. Similar to any other game, the two modes allow players to choose whether they want to prefer FPS over visual fidelity or the opposite.

The graphics mode runs FF7 Rebirth on full 4K at locked 30 FPS. If you have the release version of the game without the day one patch, version 1.010, you may face slight hiccups in FPS in certain areas and situations. But with the said patch installed, the game runs at locked 30 FPS with better FPS stability. You will still see one or two FPS drops in certain areas, but it’s better than version 1.0.

On the other hand, the performance mode runs FF7 Rebirth on upscaled 4K dynamic resolution to maintain 60 FPS. In many parts of the game, with the performance mode, you can play the game at 4k resolution and 60 FPS, but in some areas, mainly the overworld and certain situations where there are multiple particle effects and other such things, the resolution even dips to 1080p to maintain that 60 FPS output.

With the day one patch installed, the FF7 Rebirth performance mode FPS output becomes more stable, and we also see a major improvement in the visual fidelity compared to version 1.0.

Which one should you choose: FF7 Rebirth graphics vs performance mode?

We recommend players choose the performance mode while playing FF7 Rebirth as it offers a stable 60 FPS. You will usually have upscaled 4K resolution and 60 FPS simultaneously throughout the game.

Moreover, with the version 1.010 patch installed, the performance mode almost maintains the same visual fidelity as the Graphics mode thanks to Unreal Engine 4 features like TAA.

But for some reason, if you haven’t installed the latest update for the game, then the performance mode may seem blurry to you, especially when it comes to general image quality and draw distance. So, in that case, you can go with the graphics mode.

That sums up our guide on FF7 Rebirth graphics vs performance modes as we have explained them and shared our recommendation on which one you should choose while playing.
