Newbee started their TI9 strong with a win over Team Liquid, one of the tournament favorites.

Liquid got incredibly greedy in the first game. They put their faith in Amer “Miracle” Al-Barkawi’s Alchemist and as a result, lost their lanes in the early game.

Newbee pushed forward at the 47-minute mark since Team Liquid had no buybacks. Newbee ran right through the Radiant heroes and claimed game one.

It was more of the same for game two, as Quinn “CCnC” Callahan dominated Team Liquid. His Outworld Destroyer finished the game with fifteen kills and zero deaths.

Team Liquid will have to adjust their drafting strategy if they hope to reach the Main Event next week.
