The Grand Final of the ONE Esports Dota 2 Jakarta Invitational Malaysia Qualifier featured a highly-anticipated rematch between Singaporean powerhouse team, Reality Rift, and Filipino tournament contenders, Cignal Ultra, in a best-of-three series. Both teams had faced each other earlier during the Upper Bracket Finals where Cignal Ultra bested Reality Rift, 2-1.

After two hard-fought games, it was Reality Rift who got their revenge and secured their spot to the upcoming ONE Esports Dota 2 Jakarta Invitational after they outplayed their Filipino rivals.

Game One

To kick off the Grand Final, Cignal Ultra decided to go with Centaur Warrunner, Queen of Pain, and Gyrocopter for their core heroes.

Meanwhile, Reality Rift went with the Clockwerk, Lifestealer, and Outworld Devourer for their own cores in response.

Van Jerico “Van” Manalaysay’s Centaur Warrunner dominated the top lane and prevented Andrew “drew” Halim’s Lifestealer from having a decent laning phase.

As the game progressed, Reality Rift decided to apply even more pressure on Cignal Ultra’s side of the map and Lee Kong “kYxY” Yang’s Clockwerk was able to hit key targets that helped the Dire side win mid-game team fights.

At the 24-minute mark of the game, kYxY was able to catch James Cedrick “Jamesy” John’s Queen of Pain, resulting in more Cignal Ultra heroes being eliminated after they tried to save each other.

Shortly after, Reality Rift charged into the Radiant base after securing a massive 16,000 gold lead. Cignal Ultra came close to eliminating Reality Rift’s heroes but they lacked just that small amount of damage needed to prolong the game. In the end, Reality Rift closed out the game to take a 1-0 lead against Cignal Ultra.

Game Two

Cignal Ultra pulled out a pocket cheese strat with a Phantom Lancer and Huskar combo, alongside an offlane Omniknight.

In response, Reality Rift decided to go with a Faceless Void and Ember Spirit carries, with an Underlord last pick.

Reality Rift’s hero lineup proved more effective with drew’s Chronosphere working well with Wong Jeng “NutZ” Yih’s’ Mortimer’s Kisses ultimate that shutdown Jamesy’s Huskar, who was often caught out at the start of team fights.

Reality Rift continued to put the pressure on Cignal Ultra with kYxY’s Underlord who quickly farmed a Rod of Atos to control the enemy team. Cignal Ultra just couldn’t withstand Reality Rift’s superior team fight ability but ABAT’s Phantom Lancer was finally starting to pick up some of his key items.

With Reality Rift being too preoccupied taking down Jamesy’s Huskar, ABAT was able to take down enemy support heroes in the backlines and gave his team a fighting chance during team fights. But, with the rest of ABAT’s teammates down, Reality Rift took the opportunity to take down two sets of Barracks.

During a hectic Rosh Pit team fight, Cignal Ultra was able to steal the Roshan advantage from Reality Rift. In response, kYxY attempted a Radiant Ancient surprise attack play by using his Dark Rift ability to send his entire team into the Radiant base. However, the alert Cignal Ultra squad quickly teleported back and prevented their opponents from ending the game.

Reality Rift stopped Cignal Ultra’s comeback hopes when drew secured his Aghanim’s Scepter that continuously stunned the Filipino squad’s heroes each time he used his Time Walk ability.

Reality Rift then sealed Cignal Ultra’s fate as they pushed into the Radiant base with their massive 36,000 gold lead advantage at the 52-minute mark of the game. After claiming the Mega Creep advantage, Reality Rift eliminated Cignal Ultra’s remaining heroes and took down the Radiant Ancient.

Reality Rift secures their spot at the ONE Esports Dota 2 Jakarta Invitational where they will be joined by 12 of the best Dota 2 teams around the world.
