Evil Geniuses (EG) star mid laner Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop put on a show as he led his team to a 2-1 victory over Invictus Gaming (IG) in their Lower Bracket showdown at DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major.

EG came out swinging in game one of the series, where Abed excelled with Outworld Devourer. In a key engagement in the early game, he notably saved his teammate Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen’s Winter Wyvern at the last second and then bagged a Double Kill immediately after to give his team control of the game.

Abed later led his team in hunting down IG’s heroes as they attempted to split-push across the map to try and delay the game. With their enemies reeling, EG closed the game out after 27 minutes — with Abed sealing the deal with a Rampage by IG’s top barracks and finishing with a perfect 11-0-2 KDA.

IG bounced back in game two to send the series to a third game, where they last picked Antimage for Jin “flyfly”‘ Zhiyi to try and decide the series in the late game.

Despite being put on a Storm Spirit countered by the surprise Antimage pick, Abed was key in shutting down flyfly’s game and leading his team in hunting down IG’s heroes across the map.

In the deciding fight of the game by IG’s bottom barracks, Abed predicted in which tree near the tower Zhou “Emo” Yi’s Monkey King was hiding and caught him unaware. That hamstrung the IG defense and allowed EG to eventually close the series out after 33 minutes.

Abed notched a stellar 15-3-11 KDA in game three to help keep his team’s hopes for a Major championship alive.

With their win, EG secure a Top 4 finish at the Leipzig Major and advance to the next round of the Lower Bracket. Next, they face off against the winner of the match between Team Liquid and Alliance.

Meanwhile, IG bow out at 5th-6th place with US$60,000 and 900 Dota Pro Circuit points in consolation.
