Hwang Dongsuk is one of the first major boss battles you encounter in Solo Leveling Arise.
This boss battle is unlocked in Chapter 4 of the main story mode. While Sung Jinwoo took care of Hwang Dongsuk’s squad in the manhwa‘s Dungeon and Lizards Arc without much effort, it’s another story altogether when you’re in-game.
This level is one of the toughest battles if you are not yet familiar with how the combat system works and have not upgraded anything in the game.

The boss battle’s time limit adds significant difficulty, especially for new players who may struggle to defeat Dongsuk within the three-minute window.
To improve your chances, focus on leveling up Sung Jinwoo’s weapon and ranking up your fellow hunters accompanying you in the fight.
The battle consists of three stages. The first two stages involve facing Dongsuk’s henchmen, totaling six enemies. These enemies are relatively easy to defeat.
Once Hwang Dongsuk enters the fray in the final stage, use the target lock feature on the screen to focus your attacks on him. This also allows you to chain combos effectively and anticipate his moves.
While having a maxed-out weapon and a well-ranked team makes the battle easier, it is still possible to defeat Dongsuk without any upgrades.
The key strategy is to utilize the Extreme Evasion maneuver and Shadow Step to weaken Dongsuk’s defenses.
Constantly dodge his heavy attacks while dealing damage to him simultaneously. This will give you the upper hand in the battle and improve your chances of defeating him within the time limit.
