American voice actor Sam Mowry, known for his work in video games, passed away on July 20, 2024, at the age of 64.

He suffered a cardiac arrest during preparations for surgery to address blocked arteries according to a report by arts and culture journal Oregon ArtsWatch.

Sam’s voice acting legacy was commemorated by Riot Games, the game developer of League of Legends. They paid tribute to him on social media, highlighting his work as the voice of Rhaast, a powerful and evil weapon used by champion, Kayn.

He voiced the powerful Darkin weapon Rhaast in League of Legends and several heroes in Dota 2, including Anti-Mage, Beastmaster, Clockwerk, Necrophos, Slardar, Warlock, and the iconic Dota 2 Shopkeeper.

Before getting into the video game industry, Sam honed his acting skills on stage, performing in classic Shakespearean plays like “All’s Well That Ends Well,” “The Taming of the Shrew,” and “King Lear.”
