Bungie’s looter shooter sequel is filled with exotic firearms and powerful augments.

In our Monte Carlo Destiny 2 guide, we go through the best way to get the gun, its best catalyst and the most powerful Monte Carlo build in Season of the Wish.

Who are Dread in Destiny 2? New enemy faction explained

The Monte Carlo auto rifle offers reliable handling, a new catalyst and a specific build that lets you deal 270k damage per hit (with the right gear).

How to get the Monte Carlo in Destiny 2

To get the Monte Carlo drop, farm Exotic Gear through Weekly Milestones and high-difficulty Nightfalls. You can also buy Exotic Weapons from Xur using Legendary Shards when his shop refreshes every week.

Another way to get Exotics is to level up in the Destiny 2 Season Pass, which offers around eight guaranteed engrams.

Congratulations! You got the insanely rare Monte Carlo from your Exotic Engram pulls. Eitherway, you’ve got one of the best weapons in the game’s free-to-play version.

And if you’re running with a Titan melee build, you’re in luck as the Monte Carlo’s perk gives you a sick melee cooldown loop.

This is called the “Monte Carlo Method”, and it decreases your melee’s cooldown whenever you deal damage with it. Each enemy takedown also has a chance of recharging your melee instantly, making it a great addition to any brawl build.

The Monte Carlo’s other signature passive “Markov Chain” gives you ammo after every melee kill, and lets you deal increased melee damage.

These power-ups, along with the Exotic Primary damage buff (+40% against minor enemies), make the Monte Carlo an add-clearing beast on its own. But what about its catalyst?

Monte Carlo best catalyst

Catalysts are rare drops that modify exotic weapons in Destiny 2. But instead of stat improvements or a magazine upgrade, the Monte Carlo’s best catalyst gives you even more impact on the battlefield.

To get the Monte Carlo’s catalyst, farm the playlist activities in Destiny 2 – namely Vanguard, Gambit and Crucible. The exotic will be a random drop, so you’ll need to grind for it as well.

How to get Trophy of Bravery quickly in Destiny 2

The catalyst’s perk “Stochastic Vengeance” lets you use the Monte Carlo’s bayonet once you get five stacks of Markov Chain. Hitting an enemy with the bayonet grants melee energy.

The bayonet mode stays “locked” after you lose Markov Chain, but it can only be used once before resetting.

Best Monte Carlo build

Best Exotic armor: Synthoceps gauntlets (Titan class)

The best armor piece to pair with the Monte Carlo are the exotic Sythoceps gauntlets. Not only do these increase your gun’s Handling, but it also gives a whopping 165% melee damage increase, bumping the bayonet’s base 57k damage up to 172k.

Best Strand Aspect: Banner of war (Berserker subclass)

The best Strand Aspect for the Monte Carlo is Banner of War, a subclass upgrade that not only gives AOE healing, but also stacks with Synthocepts, cranking your Monte Carlo’s melee hits up to 270k per stab.
