Swedish esports organization Alliance has declared returning member Gustav “s4” Magnusson as their new captain for the remainder of the season.

In addition, the team has acquired OG.Seed’s Andreas Per “Xibbe” Ragnemalm as a stand-in to round out their roster for the ESL One Los Angeles EU-CIS online regional league.

Prior to s4’s return to the organization after last leaving the team in 2016, Alliance announced that they have parted ways with former team captain Adrian “Fata” Trinks and offlaner Neta “33” Shapira.

s4 takes over the offlaner role from 33 on top of being the team’s new captain, while Xibbe replaces Fata as the Position 5 support player.

s4 was part of the original Alliance roster that raised the Aegis of Champions back in The International 2013 (TI3). He first left Alliance following the conclusion of TI4, joining the second iteration of Team Secret before returning to Alliance a year later.

s4 left again after TI6, this time for OG, where he transitioned from being a mid player to being the team’s offlaner in order to adapt to the changing metagame.

He later moved to Evil Geniuses (EG) in 2018, where he played for a year and three months before being rendered inactive during the post-TI9 player shuffle.

s4 has returned to Alliance as one of the most decorated players in the Dota 2 scene, with two Major wins with OG and a Top 3 finish at TI8 with EG to add to the Aegis of Champions he won with his original team.

Alliance’s new-look roster with s4 at the helm will make its competitive debut at their ESL One Los Angeles EU-CIS online regional league group stage opener against Ninjas in Pyjamas on April 5.
