London-based esports organization, Fnatic, has announced its entry into Valorant with a 32-team open tournament called the Fnatic Proving Grounds: Valorant Open on May 8.

16 of the participating teams will be made up of invited teams of content creators and talent, while the remaining 16 will have to earn their place through a series of qualifiers.

Teams who are interested in joining the tournament can sign up at challengermode. The event is exclusive to players on the EU server, however.

The tournament will follow a single-elimination format with teams playing in best-of-ones until they reach the final, which will be a full best-of-three series.

Fnatic has yet to reveal what prize will go to the winners, though entry to the tournament will be free. The event will also be broadcast on the official Fnatic Twitch channel.

While Valorant is still just one month into its closed beta phase, the game already has a fledgling competitive scene with multiple competitive events including last month’s ESPN Valorant Invitational and the recently-concluded Twitch Rivals: Valorant European Showdown charity tournament.
